BRAN’S TRUE JUSTICE 2: EYE FOR AN EYE SYNOPSIS
We see a woman out in the woods and then discover there’s a dead body frozen in the snow.
Cut to our favorite amateur sleuths, who are discussing the case. Liam tells them what he knows so far: a dog found the frozen body while out in the woods with its owners. The victim’s name was Katherine, and she was very well known in her community and part of an influential school board. A woman named Sharon was arrested for the murder, but her husband believes she was wrongfully convicted.
Meanwhile, in class, they’re learning about the law of retaliation. I’m sure that won’t become relevant at all.
The team starts reviewing police interviews with other school board members and quickly realizes basically everyone hated Sharon. So they go talk to her, and she explains that the board members were nothing more than high school bullies — especially the board president, Katherine. Sharon had even threatened to sue Katherine for emotional distress shortly before Katherine was found dead. Naturally, the gang decides to take the case.
They eventually uncover enough evidence to convince a judge to reopen the investigation. From there, the crew keeps digging — tracking down DNA evidence, getting jumped from behind, climbing into wells…you know, all the stuff the police probably should’ve already done.
Eventually, they piece it all together: the head of the school board had sent her husband to confront Sharon and tell her to stop accusing their child of bullying Sharon’s kid. One thing led to another, and he ended up killing Katherine. Then the board president arrived and helped cover it all up. Honestly, she confesses pretty quickly once they corner her.
At the inevitable “we caught a murderer” celebration party, Casey and Eli have a moment and almost kissssss! But of course, Benjamin Ayres interrupts the vibe with a toast to the justice warriors.

[00:00:03] This is a Bramble Jam Podcast. Hi, I'm Brian and I love Hallmark Mystery Movies. I'm Brian and I like Hallmark Mystery Movies. I'm Dan and I despise Hallmark Mystery Movies and this is the Deck The Hallmark Podcast. Uh oh, it's getting ready. Uh oh, I need you to touch it. Doesn't stick for me. You wanna pray over? Doesn't stick for me. Just touch it. I just wanted to kiss. We're good. Yeah.
[00:00:40] Oh boy. Yeah, hi everybody. How are we doing? Holiday. We all came back from our vacations. On holiday. That's right. Um, happy at least here. You did a vacay this week? No. No, are you kidding me? I'll let everybody- You vacayed yesterday. I'll let you guys do that. Did you grill out yesterday, bride? Yeah, you gotta grill. You gotta grill. I think it's- You gotta do that, but I guess you could call that a vacay. You didn't work though on Memorial Day. Probably a little bit. A little novel?
[00:01:08] A little novel attempt. A little bit of work. That's a good time to fill in with some stuff. But yeah, I mean- What's it like to be Brian Harold brain? I mean, how can you not- How can you get up and just have a full day of not, you know, getting a little work in? I just had four of them. It was delightful. I don't know. We were on the plane. My wife is like, I gotta get on the wifi to do some charts. You flew somewhere else? No. Oh, that was your- I see what you did there. Do you remember back when I went to LA? Oh, earlier this month? Yeah, two weeks ago. LA?
[00:01:37] That trip, from the time I got on the plane to the time I got back, no. And then I got back and I was like, I got so much to do. Yeah. And I just was like, I gotta do it. Delete. Delete. I don't do it. Unless it's an emergency. I just don't- How would you know? I'll check my email. Like, I'll check it. Like, it doesn't give me anxiety to check my email and be like, oh, I gotta get to that. I just don't do it. My wife's like, on the plane both ways, doing stuff on her laptop and I'm just like, be able to get back. He ignored my text.
[00:02:08] He said, I'm not dealing with Brian today. Yeah. You've participated in a little bit of fun chat, but not business chat. I did. I do fun chat. I couldn't believe you guys were awake. I was like, these guys are awake late. Cause it was early for me, but you guys, I was like- I don't even know what it was. I don't either. It was about the mahjong. It was about the- Oh yeah, I remember that now. That was fun. Um, but it is good to be here today. Uh, it's the start of summer here. If you can believe it's a summer vacation for our children has begun. That's right.
[00:02:38] And I know for some people in the country, it doesn't start for another couple of weeks or a couple months. Sorry. Depending on where you, where you live. Uh, summer resolutions. Oh, we're doing this. You summer resolution. I'll start with you, bright guy. Something that you're aiming to knock out this summer. What do you got? Knock out this summer. Knock out this summer? Yeah. Wow. Oh man. This is a summer resolution. Um, you know, I think, uh, try to write my second book. You're going to do that this summer?
[00:03:08] I think I'll take it this summer. That's a good one. Work on a novel. Uh, make it an, not an attempt, but actually do it. Uh, so that's just a little something I think I might- A little something that you're going to start and finish this summer. I think that's, it sounds like plenty of time. I don't know. People talk their whole lives about wanting to write a book and don't do it. It's like, let's just bust this out real quick while the kids are home. Yeah. Making a bunch of noise, you know, when the house is just chaos. So how about that? That's good. Okay. Good work.
[00:03:37] Dan, any, any, any, you know, I'm not giving much thought. Uh, I, I want to get my kids to Yankee stadium. That's what I want. Uh, now if you're out there listening and you have hookups, uh, I'm not giving much thought. For anything in New York revolving lodging or Yankee stadium, Yankee, you just reach out. I'm serious. Do it. Cause I'm all tapped out of vacation money and I want to get them to New York. That's what I want to do. Danny Yankee, Danny Yankee, Danny Yankee, Daddy Yankee.
[00:04:06] That's what they'll be calling him. Wasn't that the name of a band? Yeah. Daddy Yankee. That's right. Don't give me a look like I was also like, I made it up. Daddy Yankee. But you said it with a question mark. Yeah. He's Puerto Rican. Yeah. I just, I hadn't thought about it. You said it wasn't that like he's nowhere with us and he's very much with us. Does he, is he still actively making music? Um, Daddy Yankee. According to Wikipedia, he is a Puerto Rican singer, rapper, and songwriter. Mm-hmm.
[00:04:33] He's famous for singing in both English and Spanish and for his 2004 album, Barrio Fino. Barrio Fino. Which means? He had over a million copies in the US alone. What does that mean? What does that mean? He had a hit, Gasolina. That's the song that we have. How about that, Gasolina? There you go. It's not Habala, but I don't know the actual words. Habala? Habala, Gasolina. Do you have any gasoline? No. Do you have any gasoline? Talk about gasoline. Barrio Fino is a fine hood. Fine hood. Like neighborhood. Oh, great. Great.
[00:05:01] Um, I, thank you for asking about my resolution. What's your summer resolution, Brian? So we have, do you have one? Is that why you asked the question? Was it a leading question? No, but after I asked it, I thought about it. Objection leading the witness. It's something that we've been talking about anyway. Of course it would have. In the gray house. So, but I, I wouldn't consider it a summer resolution, but I will talk about it as such. So Dan, when did I move into my house? 2021 or two. I think it's 22. I'm pretty sure it's 22 as well. Okay.
[00:05:29] So I think it might be 21. No, no, no, no, no. Uh, I was here. It was 22. That was here. It was October of 22. I wasn't here in 21. I think. Great. I know that you've got under contract in September. I remember it very, very clearly and vividly. I'm going to, but I, the first year that we had the pool, did you walk down from Coolidge? Then it was 22. Okay. Cause I built the pool in 21. Okay. So two hands.
[00:05:56] It is, it's a, it's a, it's a swell house, right? Yeah. There's some stuff that we've wanted to do to it. And we've always been like, you know, when the interest rates drop, we'll refine it. They're not dropping. So we're just going to make do with what we have now. And I'm going to, I'm, we're going to, I'm going to paint the living room and the dining room and do some stuff to make the house feel nicer. Okay. Why are you laughing? Cause you, the last time you said you were going to paint a portion of that house. That's different. That's different. I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, that wasn't a summer resolution.
[00:06:25] No, no, that was not, I didn't resolve anything. I'm not painting the upstairs. I learned from that wall. Yeah. That was the, the downstairs is regular wall, which yes. Yes. Which it's a project. It's still a project. It takes time. But I have all summer. You got all summer. I'm not going to, I'm not going to, I'm not going to stress it. I'm going to do, I'm going to do some Labor Day, Brian. That's what I meant. Do a little here, do a little there. Summer. That's how painting works. And I was going to say, when you say do a little here, do a little there.
[00:06:52] Are you going to, are you going to mark off walls and just paint a wall at a time? Like if you were doing this room, how would you break it up? Maybe. No. Dude. That's a riot. I'll do it like every week. You're going to get a painter's tape and everything. Do one wall, pack it all up and not do it. Maybe. All I'm saying is I'm not going to stress over it. That's all I'm saying. I'm stressed. I'm stressed for you. It's the worst way to paint, Brian. Why is it the worst way to put everything away? If I know I can paint in an empty house, I love painting.
[00:07:19] Because you, it's a lot of start, it's a lot of work to get going. It's not the actual painting, it's the taping. Yeah. And the cleaning up. No, I would just leave the tape on the wall. I would do it all. You're going to tape all of it, all the trim. Yeah. And the whole house. Yeah. And then you just pop in and out with the paint stuff. Yeah. It would take you a few days to do all the trim taping, but yeah, it would be easier. Yeah. Still, this is wild. Yeah. But I love it. It's a summer resolution. Yeah, that's all. And I've been, I have begun doing some, getting like samples and trying to figure out, like
[00:07:49] try to get it envisioned how it would look. Try to get it envisioned. Try to get it envisioned. That's step one, man. You've got to get it envisioned. He's really easy. You yearn for it. You try to get it envisioned. It's the remix to ignition. He means it. All right. That was my daddy Yankee, I believe. True justice. I, foreign I. You know what makes me happy about this? Go ahead. Yeah. It's not false justice. It is real true justice. You know what I mean? It reminds me of something that my friend, Judge Ross would say, which is that justice
[00:08:18] is not a foreign concept. That's right. It's a concept. He wants you to overstand it and not just understand it. Not amperstand it. Or amperstand it. It's true justice. And if you all recall during the preview episode, I said I would absolutely watch the first one before I watched this one. And he made it a summer resolution to lie to you next summer. Well, I was too busy on the paint. I used to be getting samples. I don't know if you heard. I used to be getting samples and I'm trying to get it ready to envision it. Get it ready to envision it. Get it ready to envision it. He's going to put on some daddy Yankee. He's going to tape all the trim. Can you imagine me? Mario.
[00:08:48] Can you imagine me in my living room? You walk in, Dan, and I'm just jamming to daddy Yankee painting. That's for sure. Yeah. All right. True justice. I for an I originally aired on May 24th. That is the Saturday before today. Today is the day after the Saturday. That's right. Tuesday after the Saturday. And it went a little something like this. We see a woman out in the woods and then we see that there is a person dead in snow.
[00:09:17] So tough way to start it. That's tough. Cut to our favorite, our favorite amateur sleuths. We know them. We love them. Who are talking about this case of the frozen body. Liam is talking about what he knows about the case. Just that a dog found a frozen body while out in the woods with its owner. And then her name was Catherine and she was well known in her community.
[00:09:46] It was a part of a very influential school board. The woman named Sharon who was arrested for it was also a part of that board. Went to this kids went to the same school and her husband suspects a wrongful conviction. So in class they're learning about the law of retaliation. I'm sure nothing's going to come up of that. I'm sure that's not going to be a part of this. No. I'm sure that retaliation isn't going to be in any way, shape or form.
[00:10:14] But just wanted to make a note of what they're learning in class. They're going through the interviews that the police did with some of the other board members and they all hated Sharon. And so they go and they ask Sharon about why everyone hated her. And she says, I was working to expose that they were nothing more than high school bullies, specifically the president of the board.
[00:10:41] Now she threatened to sue the president of the board for emotional distress before they found Catherine dead. And so they decide to take the case. That's interesting. So they're able to find enough stuff for the judge to reopen the case.
[00:11:00] And the gang just keeps searching, trying to get DNA off of a glass, getting jumped from behind, wearing bad wigs, going wearing bad wigs, getting dropped down a well. You know, stuff that potentially the police should have done, but have not done. Yes, that's exactly right. They figure it out, everybody.
[00:11:26] The head of the board sent her husband over to talk to Sharon to tell her to stop going after their kid for bullying her kid. Some might say retaliation. One thing led to another. He kills her accidentally. But then the president of the board comes over, tries to cover it up. She admits to it pretty darn quickly. And unfortunately for her, Benjamin Ayers is right over there listening to it all and takes her in.
[00:11:56] And then they go to a we caught the murderer party as you do. Casey and Eli, they chat. They almost kiss. But dang it that Benjamin Ayers wants to do a toast to the Justice Warriors. Justice League Warriors. And that, my friends, was true justice. Call it. Call it. Call it. Oh, my God. Hannah Swenson. Best served cold. A Bramble Jam Network.
[00:12:26] Let's take a break. Yeah. We're going to come back. We're going to, best I can figure, break this movie down. Four segments, I think. Here on. Deck the Hallmark. Hey. We're back. Calm down. We're back. So for us to break this movie down, we're going to start with the hot take. It's where we share exactly how we felt about this movie. I'm going to propose that we do not hold back. All right.
[00:12:55] But that's totally up to you guys, what you're comfortable with. He saw all my notes. So, bright guy. So you're going to delete notes. That where I did hold back. I have a, it says it right here. So what do you have? Holding back. Um, not much really. Okay. All right. That's what we want. The creative things. So you wrote down stuff to hold. I wrote a bunch of like, just milquetoast, middle of the road. Interesting. Comments. Wow. Just like. Nobody wants that though. Those shoes with that shirt. That's what, I don't even know what that means.
[00:13:25] That's what I wrote here. Got them. That's right. Bright guy. I know you only have one, one set of notes. That's right. What, uh, what'd you think about this one? The true justice. Yeah. The deuce. Yeah. Uh, I thought this one was pretty good. I did not. Um, it like there were parts of this where I guess like the whole middle kind of slow the way down. Okay. And I was, I didn't notice it until all of a sudden I was like getting really tired. I'm like, what the heck is going on? They're still catering this party with this fake company they made two days ago.
[00:13:55] So there was a big lull in the middle of this movie where they got a, they should have done something there. Uh, like throw some Ben Ayers in there. Some Nikki DeLoach, some energy, something, but the, the beginning and the end, I really liked that style that they'd cook and yeah. I'm not holding nothing back. Nothing back. Uh, so that's day after Memorial Day, Brian. He's refreshed. Dude. I vacation vacation. Yeah. He only worked for eight hours. I took it rough. So refresh.
[00:14:23] Brian gets mad when it's like 4th of July Memorial Day. He's like, it's a weekday. We're not working. What are we? How much vacation do we need? How many days off do we need? Um, let's go live in Europe. Stock markets. That is inferior. I got an idea when I realized something's undervalued and I can't even get, I won't don't get me going. Uh, it's a different world. He probably says it's college. I literally do look at screeners and I'm like, I can't buy this stock right now. Are you kidding me?
[00:14:48] Uh, so I could do without the love story part here where the two couples of this justice warrior league are coupling off, but they're, but it's yeah, please. They're not like, they're being real coy about it. Like nobody wants to admit that they have a crush on each other. Uh, I really don't like that. And so I feel like either go, you know, whole hog full speed ahead. Yeah. And do it. Be together and be like a, a, a relationship warrior.
[00:15:17] I've seen these a mystery movie on Hallmark though. You see it. Like you see it takes move many movies, many movies. I know I, I, my preferences, they don't do that part of it. You don't want any romance. Like, or maybe one. Yeah. Like do it normal. Like they're just dragging this out. Make it a normal adult. It's just kind of like, holy cow. So I did like this. Uh, there's a little work to do for the next one. I hope when they straighten some stuff out, but a pretty good, pretty good one. You see, so I didn't see the first one, uh, despite a big promise.
[00:15:47] Big, huge promise. Almost like I surprisingly ran out of time. Uh, but, uh, it's good. It snuck up on me. It snuck up on you. All Memorial Day weekend too. You had a month. All that vacation time. Um, but, uh, I did really like this and I think I liked it for a lot of the reasons that you guys liked the first one. Like the way that they present the mystery to you, the way that they, uh, present what actually happened at the end of it.
[00:16:14] Um, some of the, like the breaking the fourth wall of it all is really great. Ben Ayers, Nikki Deloach, they're on the screen for, I think the right amount of time for what they're doing here and they're wonderful. And, uh, yeah, I really liked it. And, uh, the romance stuff works for me. I, I liked that. Um, so I was cool with it. So yeah, but I don't disagree. It did lull a bit in the, in the middle there. And this is another kind of the second mystery in a row. We're pretty much who you think is responsible.
[00:16:43] Now it's her husband, not her that did the actual murder, but it, who you assume is in some way, shape or form behind it is in fact behind it. The same thing happened last week with Hannah Swinson. So that's interesting. Uh, but yeah, I liked this great vibe, great cast of like younger up and coming hallmark actors. Uh, and so, yeah, I, uh, I really quite enjoyed it. Dan. Yeah. This is one of Brian's best hot takes.
[00:17:12] Uh, I don't say that lightly. I think this is a movie that when we reviewed the first one, it was Brian. You should take quarter days more often. That's right. Yeah, man. It really helps you. The data is in and yeah. That's it. Yeah. You don't trade on the stocks, but you trade in criticism. Uh, I, uh, I think when Aaron, Brian and myself reviewed the first one, we had a lot of the fields that Brian had, which is, this is new. It's different. It's fresh, different perspective, cool way of doing things. Nikki and air showing up just to make sure everybody stays within the guide rails and, and keeps the movie moving along.
[00:17:42] But this movie's middle segment, I wouldn't call it the second act cause I think it's bigger than that, but this movie's let's call it middle 45 minutes really gets a little sluggish. It starts to feel like you're never kind of getting, you always feel like it's the last thing. And then you turns out it's not the last thing. It's just another kind of step. And it's kind of the same step over and over again. And so that was a little bit of a downer, but the way this movie ended and the way it began, I think we're both really, really strong. And would I like another one of these? I sure would.
[00:18:12] I also think this movie, and maybe I'm wrong here. I'm sure big sleuthers, big Hallmark movie mystery fans will correct me on is this felt like they were a little bit more graphic with the murder and the body than I was used to. Like showing a cold dead corpse and showing a guy get impaled by antlers. It was a little bit more than I was anticipating or like, excuse me, a woman. You're so squirmy. You're so squirmy. Like I just don't.
[00:18:42] You got a soft tummy. You never see it in these movies and this movie saw it. And so I like, you know, Nikki Deloach and her writing partner, Megan, I believe is her name. They write these together and I'm kudos to them. I think that Nikki Hallmark should be hiring Nikki and Megan to write these and should be hiring Nikki to be a more curious caterer and whatever else she wants to do. Yeah, we should. While we're making mysteries, let's get back on that curious caterer. Listen, if we're the minority here, then the majority is wrong.
[00:19:07] If you are telling me that we get two Hannah Swenson's a year because people want it and we're not getting curious caterer because people don't. I just don't believe you. I don't believe that that could possibly be the case when curious caterers worst movie is better than the best Hannah Swenson. That's true. Those are facts. That's facts. No cap. That's not derivative at all. Oh, good call back. Thank you, man. We've been using that around. We've been using it for a while since last Tuesday. Time for all the feels.
[00:19:37] We're talking about what in this movie gave us feels. Brian. That's me. We got a Nelly knows shout out in this movie. We did. Did you guys catch this? No, I did not. He was reading the newspaper and he goes, oh, my mom sends me this Nelly knows column for me to read. He's in the most recent Nelly knows mystery. There we go. Dude, it all comes full circle. Born from Hallmark. There it is. There it was. And I was. I just like that. It was nice. I was like, I get that. Apparently he plays that character, Eli Flint.
[00:20:06] That's interesting. I'd have to go back and watch the. You got a lot of work for him, man. Yeah. I don't remember him at all. But apparently he's in the most recent Nelly knows. He also. What's his name again? It's Eric. Markian Teresiek, who we really liked also from Polar Opposites. Remember Polar Opposites? Oh, yeah. He. I was looking at all the people that are in this movie because I was not familiar with most of them. The cast, if you will.
[00:20:35] As I say, I was looking at all the people. Those people who are in there. And. There was a name for him. Justice League is taken. And I was going through his filmography and he was the director. He directed a horror movie that I really liked that came out in the theaters this year called Hunting Matthew Nichols. And I really liked it. And he has. And he's also in the movie, but it's like it is like a love letter to the Blair Witch Project. And it is a lot of fun.
[00:21:03] And the final sequence there with the scares. Fantastic. So if you like horror and you liked you like Mark Markian, then this movie is for you. Go check it out. It was a lot of fun. And I was pleased. I was like, I was like, oh, wow, that's him. He did the thing. And so that was cool. Dana. Yeah. I think Ben Ayers is like just so, so good in this. I think he's really great in Hope Valley 1874. I think he was really great in the Cherry Lane.
[00:21:33] And I think in this, he's also having a blast. And I just like like you said, I want Vic Webster to be in a movie where he just kisses the girl at the end. And I don't want that from Ben Ayers. That's what I realized. Yeah. I want him to be in Mistletoe Murders and in this and the character in Hope Valley 1874, which he gets to grow it like Ben Ayers in that show. His character grows. He was even fun in like Cherry Lane, like where he gets to like be a thing. Yeah. He's great in Cherry Lane.
[00:22:02] In 1874, he gets to really sink his teeth into a character that grows and has an arc. That's I just I'm not saying he's bad in these one off Christmas movies. I'm saying it's just not a good use of him. And what he gets to do in these other movies are is just fantastic. And I really love it. And I want to see more of all of it. And 1874 got renewed for season two. So that's amazing. He's Hallmark. He's Hallmark's best character actor. I think I agree with that statement. Which, weirdly enough.
[00:22:30] Erica Tablay would be the only one that I would maybe argue. Weirdly enough, Dan, you also for weeks, and maybe that's why it's in my head, you've been calling Benjamin Ayers your daddy Yankee. Which is, I don't really know what to do with it. I can't believe you said it on the podcast. I was trying to think of why daddy Yankee was on the mind. I always say it and I say, don't call him that. Don't say that on the podcast. That was something we were just talking about. It's a breach of trust right there. That's right. I thought we were friends. No, it's just you brought him up and then it all came to me. It all came to me. I thought we were friends. I thought we were friends. Throwing gasoline on the fire.
[00:23:00] It's unbelievable. Gasolina even. Let's take a break. We're going to come back. We're going to break this. Moving down some more here with the. With the gang from the movie. The people who do this. Some people they work a part of day and they're better for me. When I take the day off, I'm a mess. Yeah, you're out of the loop. We'll be right back here on Deck the Hallmark. Welcome back.
[00:23:29] It's time for us to talk about the weight watts. That may have happened here in True Justice Deduce. Uh, Braga, I'll start with you. What you waiting and what you wanting? Yeah. I mean, this is why I don't mount my deer antlers at eye level or lower. That's the key. That's the key, man. That's right.
[00:23:58] At all of the antlers. They're never eye level. You don't look across at the antlers. Does this, I mean, this has to happen one time at the cabin, the family cabin and you never do it again. In all honesty, considering the circumstances could have been worse. Yeah. Yeah. I know someone lost their life, but like your kid, you're there. I could be straight ripped out. Who is putting their antlers right here? Yeah. I don't know what you're doing. Do you bring a dog in that house? Yeah. That's all that problem. Those antlers will get ripped right down. Yeah.
[00:24:27] Just ridiculous. Yeah. So yummy bones. Exactly. I know that they like solved it and they showed it and they, they used the peroxide and all that, but come on, come on guys. Yeah. Not even addressing it either. Like not even a comment about how it was. Imagine having a corner dresser in your living room. That was as tall as a four and a half foot child. Yeah. Yeah. It's just. Imagine being like, well, I got my, my 10 year olds running around. I want them to poke their eyes on as many things as possible. Let's make it real.
[00:24:56] I got a 58 inch dresser here and the corners are sharp as tacks. Yeah. That's what they did. So what you're saying here is you blame the victim. Yeah. That, I think that's what Brian is saying. I think so. Yeah. It's like, what are you saying? No, no, no. No, no. I don't know. What I'm saying is, is that nobody hangs their antlers that much. That's absurd. You're asking for it. You are. You are. You're playing with fire. You're just asking for it. The next thing was the winter weather get together.
[00:25:25] Kimber decided, oh, like on a Friday, like we're going to do this. We're doing this. And then seemingly like days later, they're at the winter weather get together and it happened so fast. So fast. A big thing for me, a big hang up was that, that catering company getting that job. But I guess if you're going to throw a party overnight, the winter, like that's how you get in. The winter weather get together had not secured catering the week of the event. Yeah. Yeah. And Brian's got two for two so far. There's both of my list and the hot take.
[00:25:53] I mean, God, if you were searching for my approval, this is a big week for you. I'm going to stop on my last one. Yeah. I could, you know, we still got the double deck for the week. Come on now. The only way to get. You already used stage advice. I think you're good here. This, the guy, the tech guy, is he in law school? Is he in lawyer school? Do we know? I think they're all in law school. Okay. Cause he's, I feel like he's just a, a friend, a guy who's like good at tech and they let him hang out.
[00:26:19] But he's like, he's like good in a sense where like people who aren't good think he's really good because he can't even, he's still got to go into people's houses to get into their computers. Like you, you shouldn't have to do that if you're really good with tech, you should be hacking at this point. Like they should just be in that van, just hacking into the whole neighborhood, like shutting down the internet if they want to. So I know we still need the fun choreographed VR scene, which was pretty fun, but the get,
[00:26:47] the guy should know how to hack into a computer remotely at this point. I feel like we should, we should be there. Maybe the next one. Maybe the next one. Yeah. It was just for funnies. Yeah. I mean, it was a fun, it was a fun scene. Um, let's, there are bad wigs and then there's the wigs in this and no one is even raising an eyebrow at these wigs. They, these people are coming up to them in these absolutely horrendous wigs and people are like, well, there they are again.
[00:27:14] There's somebody else with a, this is like a, something that's happening in this town. And so we just, it is what it is. It's another person who is wearing an absolutely insane wick. So stupid. Like, you know, there's some, there's some people that have to have to wear a wig for many different reasons. And you're like, Oh, that looks really good. That's right. These are not those wigs. No, there's no way she's serving people at a party. And as soon as she leaves, people are immediately going. What was this was a costume. Yeah. Yes. Yeah. It was bad on purpose. Yeah.
[00:27:42] And then, um, when they do the hacking on their way out, dude just takes the blue drink. Uh huh. I mean, what are you? The wet bandits? What? Everywhere I go. What I'm doing, I take a slush. I take a slush. I take a melted slush on my way out. Half drunk by that kid. Yeah. Disgusting. Um, and yeah. Yeah. And then I do just want to say that this lady, uh, she, I think she wanted to get caught.
[00:28:10] What she does here is crazy where she realizes that's, you know, they left some stuff behind. She goes and she just, instead of burning the antlers to the ground, instead of growing the well where the water will wash it up, I will throw the evidence with blood on it into a well. Yeah. So that maybe for the rest of my life, I will be wondering, I wonder if someone might come across it.
[00:28:38] I mean, the last time you were in that situation, bro, you burned the antlers, right? You gotta burn the antlers. Yeah. 100%. You gotta do something. Find a shallow stream. Pretty straightforward. Yeah. The game of Jumanji is found. Yeah. Right. Like they, they, they just burned the antlers guys. And that well is on that property. Yeah. Like right out there. It's right there. I mean, like that's where they shot the ring. It's where they were asked that she was asking to get caught. She wanted to get caught. And, uh, that's unfortunate data. Yeah.
[00:29:07] Uh, the principal says to the football coach, are we still on for fantasy football picks tomorrow night? Um, top 10 signs. You don't know what that is. Uh, so one, nobody in that scene knew what they were saying, but number two, the football season is over and they're just now doing their fantasy football draft. Make it make sense. Uh, I don't know what they're drafting for. The CFL. Is it a, yeah. Can it like an arena football? They have an arena football. Soccer actually.
[00:29:37] Maybe it's the, what's the Canadian, uh, football. CFL. CFL. Okay. Uh, another one, right? Yeah. I believe so. Uh, XFL. We could do all of these. Um, the first scene of this movie, all the gang, the justice league warriors are getting together for a movie night and they commit a couple of cardinal sins at movie night. Um, number one, they have an air popper for their popcorn. Yeah. Okay. First of all, are you five years old? They are cool. Okay.
[00:30:06] They're not cool. They're disgusting. No, they're cool to see. If you want dry popcorn with nothing on it and no flavor, how do you get you an air popcorn on the stove? Same here. Red blooded American with oil. Yeah. You ever throw, make it kettle corn, throw a little sugar in there. You bet I do. And then do I put some more butter oil topping on afterwards and fun seasonings and toss it around before I throw those M and M's in it? Yeah. Yeah, I do. Air pop. I was going to invite you guys. It's my painting night with my air popper, but you guys aren't invited. I'd rather die.
[00:30:37] Everything about that sounds miserable. You guys are bad friends. So first of all, Daddy Yankee eating for the popcorn. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. So first of all, Cardinal sent one air popper. Second of all, there's a bowl under the air popper. The air popper is full of popcorn. It is spitting popcorn out and they take the bowl and walk away and they leave the popcorn machine running as popcorn is just spewing out of this machine. It's just going everywhere.
[00:31:07] It's going all over the counter. What are we doing now? Like, I don't understand how that was in the movie. Was that to establish that they're college kids and they don't give up? Like, is that? How much do you want to bet? Brand would make popcorn in bed with that thing? Dude, I don't want to talk about it. He would plug that thing on his nightstand. Put it right by his nightstand, have a little bowl, put it over, eat it. He would try to get it in his mouth. God. From bed. I just... Oh my goodness. I did have a bag of popcorn in bed the other day.
[00:31:36] Awesome. Dude, your pain... Was that microwave? Yeah, yeah. So you brought the microwave to your nightstand. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It was easier. It is. I mean... Oh my God. I guess microwave is better than air pot popcorn, but... Yeah, I think so. Yeah, you got to in a... It's just what was there at the time. Yeah, man. It was crazy. Yeah, sometimes you don't want to get the whole setup out. I understand that. Yeah, of course.
[00:32:01] I think it's cool that they are cracking cases and they don't really have any jurisdiction or, you know... Yeah. ...legal backing to do so. But some of their stuff is like a crime, right? Like if you impersonate someone from the county office of defense, that's got to be a crime, right? To get official information. Yeah. Like... I mean, they also... They did break into the house. Yeah, they sure did.
[00:32:30] And open up her computer and take pictures of it. And they wore those mustaches and wigs. That should be a crime. But like... So my thing is... Is any of that evidence admissible? So there's... That's my question. Is any of it admissible? Also, Ben Ayers is helping them. Like he's bringing them folders of evidence going, I didn't bring this to you. Binders of evidence. But look at the cell phone log if you want to... Like... So they're doing all this and like I get it. Like we have hundreds of years of history of our judicial system being very, very flawed.
[00:32:59] But these folks are basically... No, it's all good. We got all... Did you get the word on that? We figured it out. These guys are basically like vigilante just... They're just doing it out of the... They're encyclopedia brown. They're just doing this... They're justice warriors. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Out of the goodness of their heart. That's the warrior part. And I'm not mad about it. I do think you should maybe not break the law. Uh-huh. Unless the law is impeding true justice, that's the name of the movies.
[00:33:23] But in this case, I just don't see how you're allowed to impersonate people and not immediately get sued. Like the county defense office would sue you. Like they're lawyers. They would immediately sue you for impersonating an attorney or whatever you're impersonating. You know, they go in the house for that scene where the guy's got his headset on and he's also dressed up, which whatever. I guess it worked for someone. Not for me, but it worked for someone.
[00:33:48] But they realize his password because he's talking and they type in the password and we see the computer screen. And stuff on the computer screen starts opening up before the password is entered. That's just an easy edit boy right there. Stuff starts... The computer knew he had it. The computer's like, oh, I see you're on the right track. I'm going to go ahead and give you a little taste. Just give you a little taste. A little something, something. You know. Keep going. And I am not here to tell you I've murdered someone before.
[00:34:16] I am here to say that you would have to throw that woman up against that wall with a lot of force in order for her to get impaled. Did you see how strong that guy was though? He was... Was he? He was pretty buff. Like it looks like she steps back into it. Once again, I'm not saying it's her fault. Well, I am saying that... Sounds like you're saying. I don't think he had it in him to do that. There's that. But also don't put your handlers at eye level. It was not her fault. That's all I got, Brad. It's time for The Hallmarks where we wonder what could have been maybe happens because we're going to see if it.
[00:34:45] What are we still wondering about? That's what we're talking about right now, Brad. I got... Yeah. The former president, the one who was murdered, Catherine, it sounded like she got paid to be on this school board, which blew me away. They just... It was like a throwaway line too. Like something about her salary. I'm like, you don't get paid for this stuff. No way. Are you kidding me right now? No way. Even at a fancy school, like you still... They're not giving you a salary, right? I mean, come on. I wish they... But I thought that that's part of what they were like, what she found out and like was trying...
[00:35:15] Oh, that she shouldn't have been? That she was taking money and like she was paying herself a salary and that's why she wanted that treasurer lady off there. And that's what... Okay. What's her name? Sharon found out it was going to bring forward. That would explain it pretty well. I hope that's the case. Because it sounded... The way I took it was she... You're president, so you get a salary. But if not, that's way better. Maybe. Thank you for assuming that. Well, maybe. Who could know? Yeah, I can't. Just keep your antlers above eye level. Yes.
[00:35:45] Maybe above forehead level. Yeah. I mean, my biggest one was what can they use of the evidence that they have for... It's a good one. Obviously, she... Let me ask you this. Legally speaking, you have everyday human beings. Everyday human beings. Like the justice workers. On occasional ones. Going up to somebody and being like, hey, here is the evidence that we have on you that we did not obtain legally, but we haven't. Yeah.
[00:36:12] And that person then admits to it, to them. Yeah. You got me. And the police are listening on the other side of the wall. Yeah. Is that admission? Is any of this... I don't know. Like, obviously, please, lawyers, you know, jump in the chat and correct us. But I don't think that police can get certain information unless they go through the proper channels. But if someone else brings that information to them, I bet that it is more admissible than if they got it illegally.
[00:36:42] No, we're talking everyday humans. These are everyday humans. These are part-time boys. They're not punching out. No. Yeah. Okay. Mine's similar, but I'll pivot because I talked about heirs in the previous segment. He... Daddy. Yankee. Yeah, as we call him around here. Some of us. But Nikki Deloach, you would think they would see her a lot more than him throughout the movie. Yeah. In the first movie, they do. She's their teacher. She kind of guides them along. In this movie, they see a lot more heirs, a lot less Nikki.
[00:37:12] Was that... I would assume she was on set for the whole movie. She wrote the movie. She's a producer on the movie. Was that by design or was that just an availability thing? Because it seems like they would... You know, you can see kernels of this from How to Get Away with Murder. Like, you know, Viola Davis and like has that group of kids in her class. And they end up like, you know, there's a murder that they're covering up, which is different. But same basic principle of this teacher is helping inspire them to like do justice.
[00:37:42] Uh, that, um, you would think she would be around more. So I just was curious where she was because she was not in much of this movie at all. Mm-hmm. Okay. We did it. Everybody, congratulations to us. It's time for Double Decker of the Week. It's where we dive deep into a life of a double decker. Uh, who has signed up at braillejampus.com. Dan, who do we have to know? Two weeks in a row. So I'm gonna go with John Cavanaugh. Mm-hmm. It could be John Cavanaugh, but I think it's John Cavanaugh. Yeah. Yeah. John. Good old John. John, a big fan of the, uh, the pick your own activities.
[00:38:11] Like, uh, pick your own... Choose your own adventure? Like, no, pick your own strawberries. Pick your own strawberries. You know, you get out there in the fields. And he's been kind of looking for an in in the industry for himself, you know, to find like a little niche where he could shine. And, uh, looks like he's stumbled upon something that, you know, just might work. He's kind of created a space where you can, you're welcome to like pick people's brains. Okay. You know, like come together and really get, get after it with the... Picking someone's brain is very different than picking strawberries.
[00:38:41] Yes. Like I do. Like that's a... Yes. A lot of the pick your own stuff is taken. So, uh, John... So he just wants anything. Anything. Well, he wants something, but he also wants it like special. So he's like, what can I, what can somebody get from this? You know, you walk away with sure fruit and then you eat it and it's gone. But a brain... Knowledge is forever. Yeah. Got it. Uh, a brain you can just... You keep emphasizing brain. Is it knowledge or is someone picking at somebody's brain? You're picking a brain.
[00:39:11] That's where you're going like... Like asking them questions, getting information or are you... Or a physical, literal brain. Hmm. Yeah. That's... What's the name of this place? He's calling it the brain dump. The brain dump? Brother, I don't think it's going to work. And you go to the brain dump and you kind of search around and you find one that you think might be good. You don't know really until you, you know, you get it. So these are actual, these are literal brains. Real brains. It's the brain... Yeah, it's the brain dump.
[00:39:37] You sign up and when you die, someone takes your brain and chucks it into the brain dump. Yeah, absolutely for research and science and knowledge. How many brains does John have? It's a slow start. I would think so. He's just not a big... He's looking to grow his following. You could donate your body to science or the brain dump. The brain dump. Yeah. And right now it's only one location so you gotta like... But what is it for? He's actually got a sister company where people fight over hearts. It's called heart attack. Yeah. Good, right? Get that done. That's really great. Can we edit that out?
[00:40:07] What do... Obviously people get a brain out of it, but then what? Like they can do whatever they... Anything. I mean the science obviously is not... But I gotta be honest with you. I don't know of any good reasons to get a brain for the brain dump. Eventually you'll be able to use it somehow, some way. You wanna keep it and like... You wanna have the brain. You wanna have the good brain. If you think that this brain is a smart one... If you get a good one, man, you kidding me, man? Yep, just pop it. Pop it right on in. Do you get their memories? Brain pop. Brain...
[00:40:36] That's why I had my first brain... If I swapped out my brain for another brain from the brain dump, do I get their memories? Everything in that brain, yeah. You lose yours though. Yeah. If you... Is this a sci-fi movie we're working on? The brain dump? That's interesting. That's interesting. In a future... In a world. Where things are so bad, people are willing to get rid of their brain for older brains... Yeah. That have better memories. Right. That have better memories of a different time, but what comes with that... You lose what you had.
[00:41:06] You lose what you had. 100%. And one person, they put the brain in and there's a murder. Okay. Ooh. Mystery series. I was gonna say they put a new brain in and it's still like... They still have their own memories and they gotta figure out why. Or how about this? Mine's better. What about this? I like the murder. The murder is fun. What about this? Yeah. This is a little bit weird, but bear with me. Yeah. It's gonna get weird. They put the brain in there and somehow they... I don't know how it works.
[00:41:36] This is weird. You're right. They fall in love with that person. Oh. With themselves. Yeah. Okay. Okay. Okay. You're getting rid of your old brain, but you have your old heart. Sure. The heart wants with the heart. Just... This was a heart attack. Bear with me here. Then you need to find a heart attack. So you get a different brain. You fall in love with that person because you still have your old heart. Yeah. Your heart is... No. No. This is the dumbest thing you've ever said. John, what do you think? I don't think it's not dumb, but I do think there could be something there. I don't think it's not dumb. I do think there could be something there.
