BRAN'S MOVIE SYNOPSIS
If you recall the end of our last Spidey movie, Quentin Beck exposed Peter Parker as Spider-Man and framed him for his murder. Naturally, Peter's life is thrown into chaos.
The Department of Damage Control, something I'm almost positive doesn't actually exist but how can you know, interrogates Peter, MJ, Ned, and Aunt May. Their attorney, Daredevil, gets the charges dismissed.
Despite his legal victory, the public turns on him.
Feeling bad about screwing up his friends' future, Peter asks Dr. Strange to cast a spell that will make the world forget he's Spider-Man. But Peter keeps interrupting the spell to add people he doesn't want to forget, causing it to go nuts and pull visitors from across the multiverse into their reality.
Peter goes to talk to the MIT admissions person but ends up being greeted by Doctor Octopus who seems to know a lot about him despite Peter never meeting him before. Peter learns that the spell has summoned people who know Spider-Man's secret identity from across the multiverse. Strange tasks Peter, MJ, and Ned with capturing the interdimensional visitors, leading them to capture Electro, Sandman, the Lizard, and Norman Osborn.
Peter soon realizes that each villain was pulled from their universe moments before their death and believes they deserve a chance at redemption instead of being sent back to die. Defying Strange, Peter steals the spell that would send everyone back to their own dimension and begins developing cures for the villains using Stark technology.
Peter successfully restores Doctor Octopus, but Norman's Green Goblin persona takes over once again, convincing the other villains to turn on Peter. This leads to a massive battle that fatally injures Aunt May. Before she dies, she reminds Peter that "with great power, there must also come great responsibility," leaving him devastated and questioning whether he made the right choice.
Ned unexpectedly discovers he can use Strange's sling ring to open portals. While searching for Peter, he and MJ instead find two alternate Spider-Men from different universes. Maybe you've seen them before in other movies?! I dunno.
The three Peters unite and create cures for each enemy and lure them to the Statue of Liberty for one final showdown. It works!
But rifts open across the multiverse. Realizing there is only one solution, Peter asks Strange to cast a new spell that erases Peter Parker from everyone's memory. The spell saves the multiverse, sending everyone back to their own universes.
Peter visits MJ and Ned, intending to remind them who he is, but decides not to disrupt the new lives they've built. After paying his respects at Aunt May's grave and sharing a quiet moment with Happy Hogan, Peter embraces a fresh start. Now completely anonymous, he creates a new homemade Spider-Man suit and swings back into the city, beginning the next chapter of his life as a true friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.

[00:00:01] This is a Bramble Jam Podcast Hi, I'm Bran and I love Marvel Mondays I'm Bran and I like Marvel Mondays I'm Dan and I love Marvel Mondays and this is the Deck The Hallmark Podcast Deck The Hallmark, it's his podcast
[00:00:23] Ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba Hi everybody! Hey! How are we? Oh boy Are we good? It's a good one. Hey, hey, are we good? Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey Now I know that at the point that you're listening to this
[00:00:53] Brand New Day has already come out It's already made a billion dollars But at the point we're recording this It's a day before the release of Brand New Day So talk about... I can't tell if this is good timing or bad timing It's perfect timing for me who's going tomorrow night To get to... I watched this morning Right, perfect timing for us, but I'm thinking for the listeners I can't tell if this is good or bad I mean I think... It's up! We're just saying up front If this is Monday morning, a few days after Yeah... Brand New Day
[00:01:21] And you've seen it, we unfortunately have not Yes, correct So we'll comment on it in due time And I think that's pretty important for us in this movie And how we rank it to have not seen Brand New Day That's my personal opinion It's a new dime, it's a new day I also will say, I told you guys this I think I'm going to be very high on Brand New Day no matter what Because I'm seeing it in Screen X The first ever movie specifically shot for Screen X at the Mall of America So I'm very, very excited I mean, come on! It's so interesting that they did this
[00:01:48] Because, like, Screen X kind of gets hated on Like online, like people don't like it So it's fascinating that they said That they were like... You know what? Let's do it We're going to lean in Yeah But you know what? I guess it could be bad But, like, I'm just... I'm interested to see, hear your review on it And whether or not it adds anything or if it's distracting So for folks that don't know, Screen X is obviously your center screen It's a wraparound You're in a box And then basically you have a screen on your left and a screen on your right
[00:02:18] That expands the screen You remember the old DTH studio? Yes, it's a lot like that We did a three panel Screen X I will say, Screen X clearly, like, didn't do what it was supposed to do when it came out Because they announced at a theater in town A Regal was going to build a screen X And then they just halted production on it one day And I think that happened numerous places around the country And so it's more of a niche thing But I'm down for screen X Like, I would love to have a screen X near me And I would go see it in that format Especially if they filmed it for screen X
[00:02:47] Like, I'm here for it Yeah So I'm very intrigued But, and also the reviews Again, the movie's already been out And to Dan's point Has probably made at least $800 million by now For sure Oh, yeah The pre-sales were nuts Like, it's gonna Like, unless Tom Holland is in Doomsday Zendaya is going to probably break a record for most box office dollars in a single year Because she's in Dune 3 She was in Odyssey Yeah And she's in Brand New Day And then the And the drama
[00:03:15] Robert Pattinson made money too Yeah So yeah, she's well over 2 bill easily Oh, yeah Brand New Day and Odyssey together are gonna be close to 3 bill If not over 3 bill Right Probably over No Way Home made 1.9 bill I think Brand New Day is gonna go higher They've already sold 80 million in tickets before the movie's released Right So it's, I mean like I'm going tomorrow night And I could The theater I want to go to Every show was sold out from 7 to 9 Every one was sold out Like, I had to go to my secondary theater to find a seat
[00:03:45] So that's pretty crazy Yeah You wanna do this? Can I, I do wanna ask you really quick Yeah We're now We're closer to the end than not, right? Oh, yeah Yeah, yeah, yeah We are We've done 27 of these bad boys Okay We only got like 10 or 11 more Wow Yeah I do wanna ask you, Ryguy How did, like, did you get any more feedback on the Wolverine suit? Oh At Rainbow Fest?
[00:04:11] Like, any, anything you wanna add or clear up? I appreciate you asking I, you know, I watched the YouTube video and it wasn't as, I don't know if bad's the right word to use But like, it wasn't as, everything was fine, right? Everything was fine Yeah, I think, I don't think we're gonna get flagged Good Well, we haven't yet, so Yeah Yeah Yeah No, listen man, I'd do it again You know This is why, this is why it's important to go to Bramble Fest in person You know what I mean? You never know what could happen
[00:04:40] We say it every year You never know what could happen Yeah, it's Bramble Fest But if you thought that it really, that the video was something You should've been there You should've been there live in the front row That's, yeah, that's what they say I will say that I was, I was with Dan and TV Scotty right after that And Dan really talked me down I did Yeah, and he said, he said that, he said it was all good And so that made me feel better And I don't know, maybe I don't have anything to feel bad about in the first place That's right
[00:05:07] Like, you know, I'm just here to try to entertain folks, right? Dude, the bit was priceless too Like, it was like a foot Like, the blanket, the whole thing I thought it was good I thought it was good The blanket was a nice touch Jordan told me afterwards that she had I'm not making this up Michael? No, no Different Jordan Oh, yeah Michael was in He was there at Bramble Fest Right, yeah Jordan Rossi A Carolina kid Michael Jordan has not missed a Bramble Fest No, it's right down the road from him Yeah, shout out Lainey, hi
[00:05:36] But he, Jordan, excuse me She told me that she had a meat blanket Which would have been almost two Can you say it again? Because you cut out You got cut off at me Oh, a meat blanket Ah, ah Yeah I guess it was a blanket that she told me that looked like meat Got it And That sounds like Jordan Yeah Holly in the chat says the in-person experience was flagged Yeah Well, there you go There you go
[00:06:06] All right, let's talk about Spider-Man No Way Home Originally had a premiere at the Fox Village Theater Yeah I don't think we've seen the Fox Village Theater before You know, people That's a first for anything we've done, I believe People say that Top Gun Maverick brought everyone back to the theaters and that's a lie This movie brought everyone back to the theaters It came out before Top Gun Maverick It made almost two billion dollars How about that? This is the movie that brought people back to the theater So, there's that Ryan, it looked like you were really thinking
[00:06:36] No, I was just doing the math in my head Yeah, and yeah, Top Gun came out in 22 That's right I was just thinking to myself, Brad I apologize Yeah, everyone else got to see it on December 17th, 2021 I know I did I know where I saw it I know whom I saw it with My life Cool, dude Thanks And you're right 1.9 billion dollars So, alright If you haven't seen it, here's what happened
[00:07:06] Yeah It went a little something like this If you recall If you recall the end of the last Spidey movie Quentin Beck exposed Peter Parker as Spider-Man Framing him for his murder And naturally, Peter's life is now thrown into complete chaos The Department of Damage controls something that I am almost positive doesn't actually exist But how can I know? How can I know? No way Interrogates Peter, MJ, Ned, Aunt May
[00:07:32] Their attorney, Daredevil, gets the charges dismissed Despite the legal victory though The public still a little hesitant on the Spider-Man Feeling bad about screwing up his friend's future Peter asks Doctor Strange to cast a spell that will make the world forget that he's Spider-Man But Peter keeps interrupting the spell to add people that he doesn't want to forget that he is who he is
[00:08:01] Causing it to go nuts and pull Begin to pull visitors from across the multiverse into their reality Peter goes to talk to an MIT admin person And he ends up being greeted by Dr. Ock Doc Ock, if you will Dr. Octavion? Dr. Ock doesn't quite work as well as Doc Ock Doc Ock, who seems to know a lot about him Despite Peter never meeting him before
[00:08:31] Peter learns that the spell has summoned people who know Spider-Man's secret identity from across different universes Some might call it the multiverse Dr. Strange says Hey, Peter, you gotta get all these interdimensional visitors We gotta get them and capture them And make sure that we can send them back where they're supposed to be from
[00:08:57] And so that leads to the capture of Electro, Sandman, the lizard And one Norman Osborn All from different Spider-Man movies that we have seen in the past With different actors Pretty cool stuff there, huh? Peter soon realizes that each villain Was pulled from their universe Moments before their death And believes that they deserve a chance at redemption Instead of being sent back to die
[00:09:26] Dr. Strange is like, no Not gonna happen But Peter Parker doesn't listen to Dr. Strange And he steals the spell that would send everyone back to their own dimension And begins developing cures for the villains Using the newfangled Stark tech that he has his hands on Peter successfully restores Doc Ock But Norman's Green Goblin persona takes over again
[00:09:53] Convincing all the other villains not to let Peter turn them good This leads to a massive battle that injures Aunt May to the point of death And before she dies, she reminds Peter of something that maybe we've heard before That with great power comes great responsibility Obviously, Peter's very sad about this Ned unexpectedly discovers that with Dr. Strange's ring, he can open portals
[00:10:21] And while searching for Peter, he and MJ find two alternate Spider-Men from different universes What? They look a little familiar to me though What? I don't know The three Peters unite and create cures for each enemy And lures them to the Statue of Liberty for one final showdown And it works, they all come But a rift opens up across the multiverse
[00:10:47] Realizing that the only solution is the original solution Peter asks Strange to cast a new spell that erases Peter Parker from everyone's memory The spell saves the multiverse, sending everybody back to their own universes But it means that nobody, even his girlfriend and his best friend, know who he is Peter visits MJ and Ned, intending to remind them who he is But instead he decides he's not going to disrupt their lives
[00:11:16] Because maybe it's just better if they don't get involved in this whole Spider-Man business He goes to pay his respects to Aunt May, visiting her grave sites And decides, you know what, it's time for a complete fresh start Like a brand new day? A brand new day, if you will Interesting He throws back on his Spider-Man suit, swinging from the city During the festive season, folks And that, my friends, was Spider-Man No Way Home
[00:11:46] We did it We wish you a Merry Christmas We wish you a Merry Christmas Is it a Christmas movie, Brie? I put this on the edge of Christmas What a weird way to end the movie But also, like, it is very festive So festive What's better than Christmas in New York? I love that they were just like You know, this movie comes out five days before Christmas So let's just do Christmas Yeah, that's exactly right Why not? Yeah Well, and you get a little Christmas blip During the Doctor Strange part early in the movie
[00:12:16] Where they're like swinging through something And you hear a Christmas song And you're like, oh I mean, everything they did They did in post Clearly when they realized they were going to be releasing on this day Like, that last scene is almost all computer Like, you don't It's very easy to make that festive Oh, we're releasing December 17th? Yeah, make it festive So good on them Yeah Not bad at them Hey, Bran, real quick You did that very succinctly Well done Yeah, it was a lot It was a pretty complicated movie And I felt like that was very succinct Yeah, I know you guys Thanks
[00:12:46] Thanks Yeah, ma'am Alright, let's take a break We'll come back and break this movie down Share our thoughts On the other side of the Huron Deck the Hallmark We're back Hi, everybody Welcome back We're talking about Spider-Man No Way Home today Having a great time, if I do say so Yeah, go for it, man I'm alright I'm having a great time For sure As am I Okay, I got a third Great
[00:13:16] Let's start with the hot tag So we share exactly how we felt about this movie We do not hold back And I will start with you, Ryguy Ryguy, what did you think of the No Way Home? Yeah, so I saw this opening weekend Now it's important to note here This movie Was it Omicron? Came out, right? This movie came out December 18th, 2021 And a big COVID strain That's right, sure Yeah, one of them It was Omicron Yeah Hard to remember these days Delta, Omicron, all of them, yeah It was one of them And it was like And this is post-vaccine
[00:13:45] You're like, oh We had a great Thanksgiving And then all of a sudden Christmas was in jeopardy once again So this came out right before I knew that as Dan said That it was going to be a very popular film I managed to see this opening weekend And I'll just leave that there People It was the worst way you could have said it Yeah You didn't need to do all that You could have been like I saw this opening weekend And no one would have And going right into your hot take And we would have been I saw it opening weekend I just, you know The way that you said it
[00:14:15] Makes it sound like you had COVID No! And still ventured into the theater No! Oh no! That's not No! Aside from Avengers Endgame It's the highest grossing movie of the decade Pre or post-COVID Everyone was there, Ryan You Everyone was there I want to clarify You made a point of being like I want to clarify COVID was running wild We all had a good day Yeah, people were dying And I went to the movies I want to clarify You can interpret however Whatever I just said However you want Except the way Brant said it
[00:14:44] Which is actually incorrect Yeah Not what I did What I heard was he had Omicron The variant And went to the theater And spit on all the seats Hand on the Bible Hand on the Bible Which is not a weapon I did not have Omicron Yeah And I did not Ryan went into the theater An hour early To lick all the seats God Go ahead, Ryguy With your hot take of a movie Not on the Omicron Yeah So on opening weekend And I was very healthy Pull a family Christmas Went off without a hitch that year
[00:15:12] We actually all got COVID The next year But that's either here Stop talking What do we got to do To get you to stop talking So I saw this And then they re-released it Or I saw it at the tail end Of its release in theaters About a month or two months after And then I haven't seen it since So this was only my third ever viewing People love this movie I would say Before I give you my hot take I would say that
[00:15:42] You could argue that The first overall premise Of this film being that Oh we now know who Spider-Man is In a universe where we know So many of the superheroes Yeah Identities Yeah that's a big issue It's like you know You could argue that like Now he's a kid He's a teenager I get it But you could argue that That you could poke holes in And you could say And you could argue that And I will To jump to the end That this idea that Somehow everyone forgets Who Peter Parker is at the end Still to this day And I'm going to be very curious Tomorrow to see how they do it With Brand New Day
[00:16:12] Kind of breaks my brain Yeah I don't think it really works As an idea Agreed I think there's a lot Of issues with it But This movie more or less Slaps Even with those two things Yeah Yeah The multiverse stuff Is a ton of fun Without saying It was the worst kept secret But kind of intentionally The worst kept secret That Tobey Maguire And Andrew Garfield Would be in it You know There was all of those videos Very akin to the end game Reactions of theaters Just losing their minds When they show up on screen
[00:16:42] Tom and Zendaya's Chemistry is off the charts here Stupid Yeah It's like they should date There is There's a little lull Before May dies But just a slight Like I definitely think The movie's kind of Spinning its wheels For about 10 or 15 minutes But it's really non-stop And super fun before that And then full throttle After To the point of this being A COVID film A lot of people In the years since Have kind of like said Oh the CGI In the third act
[00:17:12] Everything's so dark I kind of give the movie a pass It was clearly made During a worldwide Global pandemic And like so They you know The fact that it was able to You know Land in theaters When it did And looks as good as it does I think is actually A pretty big accomplishment Um And even though I think Everyone forgetting Peter is Flawed The emotional beats At the end Still work Like if you just look At those beats In a vacuum Like they definitely Hit me in the bread basket Um So I found it to be
[00:17:41] A tough film to rank Even though I liked it so much Because uh It teeters on fan service Pretty much the whole way Oh yeah But you know what I'm a fan And I love to be serviced Heck yeah Serviced me Like you know So um Clipping me Yeah Yeah Yeah This Listen Yeah So I So yeah I stand by what I said I stand by the Wolverine suit I have this ninth overall brand Ninth overall All right Yeah Wow Is that low You think that's low I don't know We'll see
[00:18:11] So here's Top ten Top ten Top ten Top ten Top third Top ten at this juncture The fact that Any movie Post end game Would break top ten Is kind of That's a win For these movies I think Oh yeah I could only see it Happening Not counting Brand new day I think One Maybe two more times There's one other There's one other one That will Probably Almost assuredly Crack my top ten Yeah So I Think you're talking about Black Panther 2 Oh for sure Brave new world Yes yeah
[00:18:41] Captain America Brave new world And Thunderbolts Are both going to be Top five So yeah I'm curious to get to I think the one you're Talking about when we get there But Brian go ahead Yeah Okay so I I've made it clear I'm a Spider-Man boy I don't care about Marvel By and large I like I like the movies But Since I've known you Yes You have been One of the biggest Spider-Man fans If not the biggest one That I've ever known As an adult Yeah I think a lot of that
[00:19:11] Is How old I am Like The Tobey Maguire Spider-Mans Were everything You were ten Yes When the first one came out To kids like me Perfect It was everything And so I fell in love With Spider-Man And Getting to see All of my Spider-Men Together All your men Is Was so good And It worked For me And It's I It could have not It could have been a mess
[00:19:41] And I felt like it really worked And it was the right amount of time That they were on screen together I felt like they didn't Overdo it with them And you get like one Funny Goofy Conversation with them On a Statue of Liberty Before the action starts And it was perfect Like that was enough And it was great And I loved it And By and large The movie's just really fun Because not only do you get to see All the Spider-Men But you also get to see All of these Awesome villains Some awesome Some not so awesome villains From the Spider-Man movies
[00:20:10] Of years past And that's just really fun But nobody is better Than Green Goblin Like Oh my god Willem Dafoe He is so good Yeah And like Is He is Just such a great villain In every In every aspect Like not only is he Just like cool looking As a villain But like the way That he Like he can flip it The Like way that he smiles When he goes into villain mode Just so good And
[00:20:39] It was just great to see him Back into In this space Playing with it So I had so much fun With this movie I absolutely love this movie And you Of course Everybody is right It is a mess They have They have decided The way that they're Going to cover up This situation Is by Having us forget That Peter Parker Is Spider-Man No Having people forget Peter He's a person And we'll get to it The way it was Because it's a mountain Of way it was But go ahead
[00:21:08] It is a mess Yeah It is a mess And I don't think There's anybody That's like 100% Thumbs up I would love To hear anyone Defend the ending Of this movie I would I'm really excited About Brand New Day For that reason Like how are they Going to handle it We'll see how it goes But for me I love this movie I have it Number 4 Overall Oh wow I have number 4 And then I have Endgame And Infinity War Ahead of that And then Black Panther Is still number 1 That's what I got
[00:21:37] So it took over Iron Man's Spots For me Wow You know I am who I am I am who I am I have Iron Man Ahead of it Say a lot of things About me But I have Iron Man Ahead of it Good for you No I understand Dana Very I have a lot to say And it is This is a very Very interesting case Of a film Because This should not work Like I don't know How else to say that Like Poking fun At the other two Spider-Man Universes
[00:22:07] Five films That collectively Made 4 billion Dollars Five billion Dollars And just poking Like Acknowledging To the The person In the audience All of the plot holes In those movies For a joke In a very serious movie Shouldn't work And And Having all these People return Just a Just a Just a Absolute embarrassment Of riches in the cast Shouldn't work But there are Listen
[00:22:36] Every superhero movie Has tons of plot holes The best ones Make you care so much You forget And For the first Two hours And one minute Of this movie It rips like No other Marvel movie I I'm not Trying to Undersell this Doctor Strange Like Benedict Cumberbatch Is amazing In this movie Tom Holland Is amazing In this movie Zendaya Is too good For this movie Andrew Garfield God almighty He is so good In this movie Tobey Maguire Also good In this movie
[00:23:06] For two hours In one minute This movie Is the best Marvel's ever been Period Full stop First two hours Of this movie Rips more than Black Panther More than Iron Man More than the Avengers It is Almost I disagree On the ten minutes Of lull It's a perfect Two hours I love it I just went All the villains Are at Peter's Apartment And for me It kind of For a few minutes For a few minutes Listen Go home But here's why For me
[00:23:35] Go home Go home Go home I have it Ninth overall And I'm saying Two hours And fifteen minutes And it was great Don't worry I'm about to Really compliment This movie Then tell you Why only two hours And one minute Is good Two hours And one minute It's one Right It's one overall Why is it one First of all Death of May Look This is the first Spider-Man universe That didn't Didn't have That's nice Really good dude That's good Really good stuff Yeah Oh man That was funny This is the first
[00:24:05] Spider-Man universe That didn't have A major Like death Of someone close To Peter And you kind of Thought they'd Forgotten about it Because it's Kind of important To the Spider-Man lore And then For us to get To know May For Marissa Tomei To be as good As she is In these movies And for her to die Halfway through This movie Shocking You don't get That a lot In Marvel A shocking death A meaningful death A death that's lasting May's not coming back In a different universe She gone Right And it means something
[00:24:34] She returns In doomsday Oh god If she comes back I'm going to lose My ever loving mind Ant-May Returns in doomsday Ant-May will return Number two The idea That people Are never beyond Repair Is such a great idea That Spider-Man Should be tackling More in Spider-Man universes Right This idea That it's not enough To defeat the villain It is much more Pressing
[00:25:04] That we rehabilitate Those that need That help And this movie Shows empathy For everyone And does it In a very believable Way And makes The Tom Holland Spider-Man Make a very Difficult decision To look at The killer Of Aunt May And say You know what You're still A human being Worthy of forgiveness Which is a crazy Thing to do In a superhero movie But it Absolutely Rips It is Flawless In my opinion
[00:25:33] So many plot holes Doesn't matter Everything works The humor works The pathos works The death The mean Like the fact That there are Real stakes Works The multiverse Against all odds Works in this movie And for two hours And one minute It is just as good As Marvel gets The problem is The movie has 25 more minutes left And in that 25 minutes We have the two worst End credit scenes Of all time I don't give an F About Tom Hardy's Venom I just don't And then
[00:26:02] The post credit scene Is a trailer For multiverse of madness Which is insanity To me But before then And after two hours Of perfect movie We have the worst Plot device I've ever seen You know how I know that It's because they Borrowed it from Men in Black 2 Men in Black 2 A movie that No one else has seen But me Neuralizes all of New York Through the Statue of Liberty And in trying to find A way Is that the one with Michael Jackson? No That's the one
[00:26:30] In trying to find a way Out of the corner They've painted themselves in In two hours of Incredibly entertaining movie They come up with One of the worst ideas I've ever heard In my life Look Why is it That Like The teenage Superhero Has to reckon With the damage They've caused And never get a happy ending More than any other superhero I don't get it Iron Man gets to Drive off in a sports car Captain America Gets to give a Line and go back And be with his girl
[00:27:00] All of these characters Get these amazing They're still a superhero Send off And we continue To just pile Trauma onto Peter In ways that Just aren't possible And when Doctor Strange Uses the Statue of Liberty To make everyone forget The personhood of Peter Parker But not the personhood Of Spider-Man It's the dumbest thing I've ever seen In these movies It's actively bad Guys Like it is Inexcusable And so What we're left with Is
[00:27:29] A really amazing movie With like a lot of emotion And great performances And full of nostalgia And the best fan service I've ever seen And then one of the more Infuriating ends To a movie I've ever seen So All that to say I had a blast For most of it It started at one And worked its way Down to five It is fifth on my list The four ahead of it Are Black Panther Iron Man Endgame And Infinity War And then Spider-Man No Way Home
[00:27:57] It is the best Tom Holland Spider-Man It is the best Live action Spider-Man Of all time In my opinion And it is the third Best Spider-Man Of all time Across all genres Because the two Spider-Verse movies Are better Do not at me They're way better Than these movies I will take no other I don't think That's that controversial I think to have Both of them ahead Is Oh is that Venom Yeah Did you hear But I just said Tom Hardy's Venom Well You said what you said
[00:28:27] And it bummed me out man I understand it Bummed you out But I don't have A problem with you I have a problem With Tom Hardy's Venom Alright Okay You and I are good Good Great Still going out For cocktails later Still going out For cocktails later Yeah I know you love An appletini I love an appletini Yeah Double tini Extra dirty Extra dirty brother Yeah I know Alright God bless Thanks Ben Alright God bless Venom
[00:28:58] God bless It's time for the feels Where we talk about What this movie goes Feels Right guy Yeah I have two So They They really land the plane With May's death scene As Dan said Tom Holland is getting Mixed reviews On his Odyssey performance But I think he nails it The problem with his Odyssey performance Is it's the worst Performance in the movie He's still great I don't agree with that He's great I think he's great I certainly don't think He's bad I didn't say he was bad I said he was I went in fully
[00:29:27] Anticipating him Being the weak link Of the movie And I thought That he was phenomenal Who's the weak link If it's not him I'm not sure Okay That's my thing Is that I suppose there can be No weak link I would say it's him Yes Exactly That's my point He's excellent But everyone else is better I mean he's I thought Cyclops There's two Cyclops isn't I thought Cyclops Could have been better That's not an actor It is built technically But it's not an actor Yeah The guy For 60 foot Sidney Lou's dad Thank you very much Like of the people Playing people
[00:29:57] Tom Holland is great In that movie I'll give it some thought I was really impressed Anne Hathaway wipes the floor With him In every scene she's in Yeah I mean she's gonna Win an Oscar I think Damon could win An Oscar But Anne Hathaway's The best in the movie And so Tom Holland Sees her with her And that's tough for him Man Because she is a force Sorry it's not an Odyssey podcast I could do that all day Yeah no no But I'm just saying Like you know For to just counteract Something that's currently Being talked about And again I don't think He's bad in the movie At all I think he's great In that scene With Marissa Tomei My other one Is very very meta It's been talked about
[00:30:26] This is not an original Thought by me But Andrew Garfield Saving Zendaya When he was not able To save Emma Stone Heck yeah That's right And the Which is great In and of itself The extra layer Of and I'm not here To talk about Andrew Garfield's Personal life But they say That he still Kind of you know Longs for his Relationship with Emma Stone So there's a lot Of meta-ness there Of him being able To save Zendaya When he was not Able to save Emma Stone A very very
[00:30:55] Layered moment But a great one I when I was Bran was here I was watching this And I actually Really like Amazing Spider-Man 2 I love Amazing Spider-Man 2 I think Amazing Spider-Man 2 Is a better movie A lot of people Give it credit for But when they show The exact same Camera angle Of MJ falling That Gwen Stacy fell And then he saves her I literally said out loud That's great filmmaking Like I said it out loud Just by myself Watching the movie Because And he's so good Like his
[00:31:25] What he's Like his performance In his face Is so so good And like so deep And earned there It should That shouldn't work At all And it's so good Especially because You could argue that And I agree I don't think That movie's bad at all But it's like It's probably the least Talked about Spider-Man movie Out of all of them It is I would agree with that For them to pick A moment from that film Is like really cool And then again It has like this weird Real life element to it So those two stood out For me
[00:31:54] You've heard me Talk about JB's move And my My Oh my god I can't believe We're doing this What are you doing This movie's full of feels You can't do this Why he should be In every movie You've heard me Talk about it But they one-upped it With the addition Of Hannibal Burris To the teacher crew Dude Hannibal Burris Can be in every movie Hannibal Burris So funny in his one scene Yes As is the conspiracy Theorist teacher Who's still team Mysterio So funny Really funny
[00:32:23] And so I Now I will say It's okay If JB's move Isn't in every movie As long as Hannibal Burris Takes his place That's my compromise JB doesn't have to be In every movie As long as Hannibal is Give me that trade All day for these movies Sometimes I want JB's move But in this universe Give me Hannibal Burris I loved it Dano So I did talk about Redemption of the Villains A wry guy mentioned Andrew Garfield Getting a chance to His Spider-Man Getting a chance to save Someone falling
[00:32:53] His life died I think it was Like a genius move But since we've talked About all those I'm gonna And we all And I also said That the worst performer In Odyssey Was Tom Holland I'm gonna talk about Tom Holland In the May death scene Because he's amazing In that scene Like really Really Really good Like from trying To help her out To her falling again It's just a really Quality performance By that guy Who I don't get why People don't think He's a good actor I don't get that Like I don't get Certainly not a bad actor
[00:33:23] No Anyone who says that I think is just being silly Like Yeah I just For me Like I think The only problem With the Tom Holland Stuff that we see him in Is that the guy's 30 years old Like he's not a teenager In this movie We're supposed to believe He's a senior in high school And I don't buy that I did in Homecoming For sure Because he was close To that age I don't buy that anymore I also didn't buy him As much in Odyssey As a son That's not 21 yet I thought that was A stretch as well But I think as an actor I think he's a quality actor He should just be playing adults Is my problem I guess Is what I'm saying
[00:33:53] So but he's great in that scene Really good Let's take a break We'll come back We'll get to the way one And the way to Marvel Here on Deck the Hallmark Wait for it Whenever you're ready Wait for it Wait for it Wait for it Push it whenever Just push it There you go Cockroach messed up man Cockroach wasn't in this episode Villain Villain Venom Villain Venom Venom the villain Was in this episode Can I really quickly Oh my god
[00:34:22] Here we go I didn't do anything I didn't touch anything And it kind of pees me Right the off That you would allude To be touching The board Okay but Brandon's the one That said it first right Yeah but you agreed I did agree with him You're right Yeah Yeah okay And I thought We were going out For cocktails We still are As far as I'm concerned How do you expect me To just let this go What if I buy The first two rounds Of Dirty Mario Apple teams for you I'm in I'm in I'm in
[00:34:51] I thought that could do it Drink nights back baby Alright god bless Alright see you then God bless you God bless right Alright it's time For the wait what Is where we talk about What in this movie Made us go away What I'll start with you Ryguy I agree with Dan That Benedict Cumberbatch Is really really great In this film Especially at the end Again I keep saying That I don't like The end twist With Peter Everyone forgetting him And I don't But the moments around it Are really good Including the one That he shares With Tom Holland But I could make The argument
[00:35:21] That Doctor Strange Does not act Like Doctor Strange Especially during The beginning part Of this film I just feel like Them changing the spell Is very who's on first I think it's Unrealistic to me That Doctor Strange Would mess the spell up From everything Especially when there's High school kids That are meddling Like look at what He went through In his origin story The idea that He would risk this It just isn't It shouldn't work I 100% agree
[00:35:50] It just should not Work at all So it's Yeah And again I have the film Very very high And so the fact That that's The central basis For the plot Of the film Always is a little Off to me We haven't noted This yet It's worth noting That because of COVID and everything Else production stuff Multiverse of Madness Was supposed to come Out first And No Way Home Was supposed to Come out second So maybe some Of these things Are like last second We have to shuffle Things around Who knows I don't have that To be factual But worth noting I also agree
[00:36:20] With Dan That the idea Of No One Has Passed Redemption Is a beautiful Idea The only problem I have with it Is that May has never Brought this up Before this film Like There's Multiple villains Not just in These Spider-Man films But in the world At large And we've seen Her on screen At least three Films before this And has never Brought it up before There is There's no guarantee That even all Of these folks If any of them Would die By getting sent Back to their Own universe So she
[00:36:50] It's just I would have Loved for that To have been Established a little Bit before And then Last one for me And you both Are probably Going to pick up On things like this There could be Quite literally An endless amount Of wait what's Like this In regards to The end of this movie But wouldn't Happy find it weird Yes That Peter At the grave site You got it Knows who's Spider-Man is But also And this is where My brain really Starts to break With this idea Wouldn't Happy And every other
[00:37:18] Avenger find it weird That they don't know Who's Spider-Man is Like wouldn't They all go Like when Happy Said same It really threw Me for a loop How do you know How did you know If you don't think About it you can Maybe make this work But like at the next Avenger coffee hangout Like wouldn't they go Boy I'm really glad We beat Thanos By the way Who's Spider Spider-Man Yeah Who helped us Do that The idea Just talking about this Makes me want to move This movie down to 20
[00:37:47] It is so infuriating That I'm supposed to believe That everyone in the world Has forgotten The personhood Of Peter Parker As a human being But not The suit he wears Yeah How is that Like They all fought Like the Civil War All of that Still happened You either have to Forget both Or you have to Forget neither And I still think It's bad But if
[00:38:17] At the end of this movie Everyone forgets Spider-Man existed I think that's better It's a little more palatable We still have issues with it Oh so many issues But if everyone's like Spider-Man Who's that If everyone just Is like I know we have video Of whatever I know we have video Of this fight On a tarmac Or whatever I've just Who was What I don't remember This guy If that's the way They went It still sucks But it's better No When When Happy Said how'd you know her And Peter says
[00:38:47] Through Spider-Man And then Happy says Same Same That's a What happened there So Spider-Man Who you don't know Who he is Introduced you To some random woman I just It is the ultimate Like They decided They had a perfect movie here And they just The problem is There was no way home There was no way out There was nothing They could do They had no out Unless Hear me out It's a happy ending No pun intended It's a It's an actual
[00:39:16] Happy ending Where He gets the girl He saves the day He keeps the multiverse From Collapsing completely And We all get to Celebrate Spider-Man Why not Every other superhero Gets it Why not give him that Especially I mean They would say The reason they did this At the time Is because They didn't know There was a little Talk about Whether or not Tom Holland Would come back But that's more Reason to do What you're saying That's right Dude This movie
[00:39:45] If he just Saves the day And gets the girl And like Gets the thing We all want The happy ending We all want This movie's One of one Like it just is The ending is So terribly bad It's Just thinking about it Makes me want to drop This movie down in my Like who does Thor Just for To pick him Think Spider-Man That's right They all would know That someone's Under the hood Yeah Who do they Think is under The hood Yes And then when They think It's weird They don't know Who is under I'm moving this movie Down Wow
[00:40:15] I'm moving it down I'm moving it down How far It's Winter Soldier's Better It just is And then Oh yeah I think 9th Is fair for this Because of the issues We're going to go here I've moved I've moved it down From 5 It is now 7 I've moved it to 7 I'm still The lowest on it And again I love The first two hours Is just Unbelievably good I will be fascinated I will be fascinated We're seeing it tomorrow I think all three of us I will be fascinated
[00:40:44] To see how Brandy Day Addresses this We're all going The next 48 hours So we text him Spoilers tomorrow night Right Yeah of course Got it I So the way that Peter comes to the conclusion Like oh I should go talk To Doctor Strange About this Is when he sees Halloween decorations These little vampires That look Suspiciously like Doctor Strange And My question is Why Why do those Tiny little vampires Look so much like Doctor Strange Yeah
[00:41:14] Yeah He's not a vampire He's not a vampire But he looks so much Like Doctor Strange I If I'm Doctor Strange I'm suing I'm suing The makers Of these little Vampires Because they took His likeness And they made him Into something That he's not Which is vampire J. Jonah Jameson Is an interesting character We've talked about it Yeah We've got to talk about this This is a big Wait what Go ahead But mine is probably
[00:41:44] Not what yours is Mine is They do a thing Where he's doing A live hit Yeah And it cuts to him In his living room Doing it And it's like Oh okay So this is like a Info world Yeah This is like You're in your Living room You've got a green screen And then every other time We see him They show him In a massive studio And I don't know What happened To him Like if this was like Breaking news thing I got something
[00:42:13] In my living room Just in case I need to go live Or if they just Forgot that they had That scene earlier J.K. Simmons said They filmed that scene At the end of Far From Home At the last minute And it was someone Some exec's basement Okay That they filmed that scene in And so to keep that Looking the way it should I believe that they did Okay But then every other time We see him He's in massive studio So I don't know And then my last one Is the first time That Peter goes to Doctor Strange And is like Hey what if we
[00:42:42] Made everybody forget He dives right into Spell And Peter keeps being like Well I can't let MJ forget Of course He does the whole thing The second time At the end of this movie He's like Hey we should make Everybody forget That Peter Parker exists Doctor Strange Goes into this Whole warning Like here's what That would mean for you Where was this warning The first time I can't It might move further down Where was the initial warning It does seem There's a lot of problems At the beginning And end of these movies
[00:43:12] It does seem Like Doctor Strange Would give the warning The first time When someone says Hey I want everybody To forget Who Peter Parker is He gives him No warning He just goes Okay we can do that Does the thing A little warning Would have stopped All of this from happening Because the reason It just makes Doctor Strange Look dumb The reason why It had Like the Multiverse opens up Is because of all The changes that he's Making with the spell
[00:43:40] If you just give The warning up front None of this happens We're all in good We're all good And But whatever It doesn't matter Dana Yeah Back to J. Jonah Jameson Real quick What is happening Because J. Jonah Jameson Is a newspaper editor He doesn't work For a television station He doesn't have A YouTube channel He's not An on air personality
[00:44:09] Like J. Jonah Jameson Gets articles From everyone And edits them And decides to print them Now I know Print media has died And we've made a transition But to not explain The fact That J. Jonah Jameson Who has gone from Albeit a cranky Not the best But an actual journalist To being Alex Jones Infowars Works for this movie But doesn't make sense For the character That's appeared in
[00:44:39] Literally every version Of Spider-Man By the same actor J.K. Simmons In 11 movies Or whatever Is an actual Newspaper editor And in 2021 He's Alex Jones Infowars And I don't know Why that happened Like why What happened there I think I think they want you To assume that In the multiverse That's just what he is In this universe But there could be An easy line In the multiverse J. Jonah Jameson Is the same person
[00:45:09] And he always Is in some way Shape or form In the news Whatever man Whatever That's what I think They want you to think Also we do this For every other movie We have to do it here We have no less than Five mega villains From other universes Where are the Avengers Where are they There's a guy That can control Electricity There's a guy Made of sand There's Doc Ock There's Green Goblin Where There's a lizard
[00:45:38] Where are the Avengers Where are they Somebody call the Avengers Somebody page Carol Danvers Stat What are we doing A lot Guys Come on man Hey I get I get why Lizard Man Electro Green Goblin And Doc Ock Are all here Even though The age Doesn't make sense And we pulled him And we're supposed to believe Willem Dafoe is still young And not dead yet I'll give all that
[00:46:06] Why is Sandman here I know a lot of people Hate Spider-Man 3 Because it sucks It's a bad movie At the end of Spider-Man 3 Sandman Actually just goes Hey I'm really sorry Ben's death was an accident And Peter is like You're forgiven And then he lets him go Like he just Sandman just goes And no longer He He He doesn't need The forgiveness arc That the rest of Right Am I crazy
[00:46:36] Like Sandman Has already been redeemed Why is he in this movie Like he also is like One of the worst villains Like we could have Just not He's also barely In this movie So they easily Could have But he's real angry And I don't know He is the one That I'm like We already did this This is the one That we don't need To do this with He shouldn't be In this movie It would have been funny If Toby McGuire Saw him And was like Oh man Yeah We already did this I thought we worked Past it
[00:47:05] Why were the charges Dropped At the beginning Of this movie Like Daredevil Matt Murdock Is like Good news Charges are dropped Why They had this video Of him destroying All these things They You know They have a video Of him saying I'm gonna Blah blah blah That he What He's a good lawyer Did anyone explain Like They didn't go to court Matt Murdock Got the charges Of mass murder Dropped How Why Why were they dropped He's really good He's really good
[00:47:34] He's really good He's really Really good And I'll save my last one For what a marvel What a marvel it is It's time for us to talk About questions we have After watching this one Or anything else Really It's a catch all Yeah man Ryguy Thanks for explaining That so thoroughly Brent Thank you I I Just wanna note That I currently have Three Of the four Phase four films That we've watched so far
[00:48:04] In my top twelve Now Eternals is dead last So that's You know What are the What are the other ones It'd be I have Black Panther Black Widow Excuse me Black Widow And Shang-Chi At ten and eleven Respectively Or eleven and twelve Respectively I got them at thirteen And fifteen Respectively So for me I have nine And we'll just say Ten and eleven Because I think I'm probably Nine, ten, eleven, twenty-seven Is what you got Right Yeah So now listen The average there is hurt But for all of the talk
[00:48:33] About phase four Really being like You know The screeching halt Which it will be In time Yeah let's give it A few movies Ryguy It's not yet No but I'm just saying I think it's While we go along On this exercise Worth noting That we have not hit The massive Decline Yet In fact If we exclude Eternals Which we can't But if we did I'm actually Very This is probably A really good Stretch of movies For me Where I'm very high I have all of them In the top You know Half Yeah
[00:49:03] There's a stretch Of Guardians To Thor The Dark World That is way worse Than what we're Getting Dealing with here Yeah You're 100% right That's good So just Just an interesting Thing to note Bren So we've I mean I feel like We've talked So much About how dumb The ending Of this movie But I do Want to ask A question About So early In the movie When Dr. Strange Is explaining What's going to happen He explains it As a form Of brainwashing You want me To brainwash Yeah Everybody Into forgetting So where Does that leave
[00:49:33] The tech Meaning The footage That did go out Of Peter Parker Being revealed As Spider-Man Yeah From Mysterio That was on The Daily Bugle Whatever it was Yes The video Yeah Exactly What happened to it Because that's not Brainwashing Yeah That's a different Thing Altogether I guess When people Hear Peter Parker They just go We don't That's not a person
[00:50:02] Or they might be that But the video That shows his face Shows his face It's so stupid guys I don't know how many It's maybe one of the Dumbest things in all These movies Like it really is So what is it Is it brainwashing Or is it a whole It's bad movie Whole new thing Is what it is You're right Because they say Brainwashing But at least A slightly Better version Of it would be Is that It's a catch all And the video Disappears But Yes You can't Brainwash A YouTube video At least not yet Not yet So that was
[00:50:32] My question there Dano I have one question But I have two Actual marvels Like what a marvel Oh my gosh And one of them I ruined for Brain already But Ryguy Can you tell me At this point Of recording Before brand new day The top three Box office Spider-Mans Of all time Can you tell me By any chance Could you guess This one Spider-Man Spider-Man 3 For sure Spider-Man 3 Yep Yeah No that movie Crushed And I would guess Second Spider-Verse
[00:51:01] No Far from home Oh no I said this one Oh far from home Sorry No way home is one Far from home is two Spider-Man 3 Is third I remember Like I was in I was either Eighth grade or ninth grade When Spider-Man 3 Came out And that was the first time I can remember Genuinely being like I was like Oh I think this is like The most successful movie Of all time It's crazy It's the first time I had heard about Box office stuff Yeah yeah yeah I remember it crushing Yeah yeah Okay my other marvel Is I actually Actually told you this Already right guy Which is Brand new day Releasing tomorrow
[00:51:30] Will be the third Spider-Man movie Released since The last Avengers movie Wild That's crazy Right Like that's insane Something's out of whack Like that's That's insane But my question is this And I The nerds out there Will probably have an answer Maybe Ryguy Will have an answer Because I did pose this To Brian He did not have an answer At the beginning of this movie We find out from Stephen Strange That he does not have The time stone Why doesn't he have The time stone Remember
[00:52:00] In Endgame They They take all the stones But then Steve Rogers Goes back in time And puts the timeline Back in place Which would still allow Stephen Strange To go out to China I believe And get the time stone And be the holder Of the time stone With no Thanos In the picture Why does he not Have the time stone Yeah I don't have A good answer Because in theory What you're saying Is that yeah He was supposed To bring it back To an earlier version Of Stephen Strange Right Yes Right
[00:52:30] His sacred timeline Still involves him Having and holding And protecting The time stone Why doesn't he have it I don't have an answer Okay good I mean Somebody should have one I guarantee you Someone listening If you have one Please let me know Because I would like to know And that is all I have Brian Alright very good I feel like there's Probably an answer Probably Like maybe But like maybe He's not the grand supreme Whatever anymore Now it's Benedict Wong But if Benedict Wong Had it He could also Fix the problem
[00:53:00] So I still don't know What the deal is there Alright well let us know In the comments Great Next week Doctor Strange What is it Multiverse of madness Multiverse of madness That's right More multiverse Yes Alright so come on back For that Until then Maybe the first to wish you A Merry Christmas Deck the Hallmark The Bramble Jam Podcast produced by Brandon Gray And yeah that Greenville South Carolina For more information On the show You go to Deck the Hallmark Dot com Follow us on the Socials At Deck the Hallmark Leave us a five star
